Symposium IP on AI

In de jaarlijkse traditie organiseert het Turing Dispuut een symposium voor studenten binnen ons interessegebied. Recht, intellectueel eigendom en technische ontwikkelingen staan altijd in dynamisch verband met elkaar en lenen zich voor een tal aan actuele en boeiende onderwerpen. Het thema dat dit jaar centraal staat wordt al enigszins verklapt door de titel IP on AI: Intellectual property & Artificial Intelligence. Tijdens het symposium zullen experts met elk een eigen achtergrond vanuit hun perspectief dit onderwerp benaderen. Het doel is om duidelijk(er) te maken of het enthousiasme vanuit de bedrijfswereld voor de mogelijkheden van deze techniek de test van juridische weloverwogenheid en nuance kan doorstaan. Innovatie brengt immers in veel gevallen uitdagingen voor het recht met zich mee en in het geval van AI met name intellectueel eigendomsrecht.
 
Naast het uitvoerig behandelen van dit thema is er de gelegenheid voor studenten om zelf een mening te vormen en zich actief te mengen in het debat. Het doel van dit symposium is om ideeën uit te wisselen, mensen met verschillende achtergronden en kwaliteiten samen na te laten denken om voorbereid te zijn op de uitdagingen van morgen. In its annual tradition, the Turing Dispuut organizes a symposium for students within our field of interest. Law, intellectual property and technical developments are always dynamically related and lend themselves to a number of fascinating subjects. The theme this year is already somewhat given by the title IP on AI: Intellectual property on Artificial Intelligence. Experts, each with their own background, will approach this topic from their perspective during the symposium. The goal is to make clear whether the enthusiasm of the business world for the possibilities of this technique can withstand the test of legal deliberation and nuance. After all, innovation in many cases poses challenges for the law and, in the case of AI, in particular intellectual property law.
 
In addition to discussing this theme in detail, there is also the opportunity for students to form their own opinion and participate in the debate. The aim of this symposium is to exchange ideas, make people with different backgrounds and qualities think together in order to be prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. Do you join us?
